Banana pudding old fashioned


4 ripe bananas

1/2 cup of sugar

3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon of salt

2 cups of whole milk

2 egg yolks

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

3 cups of heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup of powdered sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Vanilla wafers, for layering

Banana pudding recipe from scratch


In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, flour, and salt.

Stir in the milk and egg yolks, and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and boils.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and butter.

Let the mixture cool to room temperature.

In a separate bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

Banana pudding with cream cheese

Slice the bananas and layer them in a large serving bowl with vanilla wafers.

Pour half of the custard mixture over the bananas and wafers.

Repeat the layering with the remaining bananas, wafers, and custard.

Spread the whipped cream over the top of the pudding.

Crush some vanilla wafers and sprinkle over the whipped cream.

Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until the pudding is set.
